DESCRIPTION OF PRACTICE:
Barb North has a particular expertise in conflict management
training and mediation in sensitive areas. North is also an
innovator in the area of Individual Conflict Coaching. She has made
numerous TV appearances, designs conflict management programs for
organizations, conducts one-on-one coaching sessions and works with
family owned businesses in sucession planning. Also an excellent
speaker with tv credits and trainer in the area of conflict
management, mediation and dealing with difficult behaviors.
PROFESSIONAL
BACKGROUND:
Barb has
worked in conflict management and negotiation for over twenty years
and been a trainer and keynote speaker for over thirty years.
She has also designed and delivered over three thousand trainings
in the areas of communication, conflict resolution, mediation,
customer service, performing arts skills and speaking technique.
She is a certified mediator, trainer, speaker, conflict management
consultant and personal conflict coach with a BSBA from the
University of Denver, graduate work at California State University
in Northridge and participation in many trainings, workshops &
certification programs. North has also done extensive work in the
Entertainment Industry as a mediator, talent manager, producer,
writer, trainer and performer.
EXPERIENCE:
Ms. North is a certified mediator for Los Angeles County Voluntary
Mediation Services Ventura County Superior Court, The FINRA
(Formerly NASD) Mediation Program, California Department of
Insurance, GSUSA, The Federal EEOC Mediation Program and has her
own private practice. She has made television and radio appearances
as expert an panelist, done over a thousand mediations in the areas
of divorce, contract, employment disputes, family, intellectual
properties, securities, succession planning, insurance and more.
APPROACH:
North believes in mediation as a transformative &empowering
process. If the emphasis is placed on the process, resolutions
usually emerge if they exist. She creates a relaxed and safe
environment to assist the parties in communication, exploring their
options, identifying issues and staying on track. While she is well
versed in directive and evaluative strategies she uses them
sparingly and only when needed to move through obstructions and
jumpstart the transformative process.
